Motley Rice aviation attorneys represent families of victims involved in a tragic private charter plane crash that occurred in Soldotna, Alaska, shortly before noon on July 7, 2013. The plane, a small-engine DeHavilland Canada DHC-3 Otter, had just taken off on its way to Bear Mountain Lodge in Chinitna Bay, Alaska, when it crashed into the runway and caught on fire, killing all nine passengers–two families from South Carolina and the pilot, who was co-owner of Rediske Air.

As with many small planes, the Otter was not equipped with a flight data recorder, which presents challenges to the investigation into the cause of the crash.
